“A Life” – United Airlines Commercial

“It’s Time to Fly” Campaign

This is one great animated commercial I have ever seen. It reminds me of Hayao Miyazaki’s Grave of the Fireflies–a World War II animated movie. Dramatic elements being presented in animation is rare, it requires a real talent for the animators and the director to make people look beyond the stereotypical medium such as animation and shed out different emotions beside being funny.

The music being employed in this ad compliments the otherwise ‘periodic’ sense and De Ja Vu element. Being an animator I immediately noticed the minimal rendition of actions in opposition to squash and stretch of a Disney genre, instead the ads focused on the ‘feel’ and the dramatic elements of the message.

I would very much love this ad if it were a movie.
